First Time Attendees

Calling All First Time Attendees!

Come and check out the latest Annual Meeting buzz and meet other newbies at the “Hive.” It’s located on the Level 2 Concourse. Stop by the Hive for a chance to network and meet staff members and volunteers who will help answer questions and provide guidance for navigating your first ASAE Annual Meeting.

Below, we've highlighted a few key events and tips for first timers. But in addition to reading about it, you can hear about it! Check out our 2015 First Timer Tips Video.

Saturday, August 8

The opulent Cobo Center can be a bit overwhelming, even for Annual Meeting vets. Come take a tour and learn how to navigate the Center and meet a friend or two. The tours will leave from the Hive, which is located on the Level 2 Concourse.

Tour 1: 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Tour 2: 3:00–4:00 p.m.
Mix and mingle with ASAE Council and Committee Leadership from 4:00–5:00 p.m.

Sunday, August 9 through Tuesday, August 11

Pop by the Hive (on the Level 2 Concourse) first thing in the morning (7:30–8:30 a.m.) to meet up with other first time attendees and some “regulars” to chat and head to the General Session or other learning sessions. Staff will be frequenting this lounge throughout the day to see if people have any questions or help you map out your day. Feel free any time during the meeting to stop by any of the concierge desks to ask for directions or help. Our staff and volunteers want to make navigating the meeting as easy as possible.

Thank you to our Event Partner, DelCor Technology Solutions, for hosting The Hive.

Navigate as a Newbie

Newbee

Not sure who's new?
Rest assured you'll be able to easily spot other FTAs (First Time Attendees), from the "newbie/bee" stickers on their badges. We will also have First Timer ribbons, making it even easier to identify new friends. Make sure to grab one for yourself at the registration desk!

Have a question?

Tweet us your questions! Just follow the conference Twitter account (@ASAEannual) and include the hashtags #asae15 and #newbie for assistance.

Looking to connect?

The opening party at the Henry Ford Museum is going to be an event to remember! But with an expected 5,000 attendees, it can be a bit intimidating. Why not make some friends beforehand? Stop by the “Hive” to meet other FTAs, ASAE staff and volunteers, and a host of other new friends!

Calling all our vets!

While we have put a lot of work into these new initiatives for our first timers, we still need your help as an ASAE Annual Meeting veteran! The best way for you to help is simply to connect. If you see a first timer, say hello! Introduce them to some of your contacts. Sit by them in a general session. Or simply stop by the Hive. Not only will you be helping the first timers, but you'll be building your own network and quite possibly making a great new friend!
